Bonn-OSINet
The Bonn Agreement Oil Spill Identification Network of Experts
The Bonn Agreement Oil Spill Identification Network of Experts is a working group of the Bonn Agreement formed in September 2005 in Ostend (Belgium) with Gerhard Dahlmann (BSH, Germany) as convener. For each of the Bonn Agreement member countries, at least one institute or laboratory participates in the working group.
The task of Bonn-OSINet is to give mutual assistance in case of oil spills, to improve the quality of the methods and to unify the methods applied.
The first downloadable file on the list below is a poster which introduces Bonn-OSINet. The poster was prepared for the 40th anniversary of the Bonn Agreement in October 2009.
The working group organises a ring test for oil spill identification every year. Samples of real or artificial cases are sent to the laboratories with a request not only to return a final conclusion, but also a report describing the reasons on which the conclusion is based.
The ring tests are open to other laboratories working in the field of oil spill identification.
The second link on the list below contains the names of all the laboratories that have joined the ring tests over the years.
The results of the ring test are described in a final report. The final reports are public documents and can be downloaded from the list below.
Questions about Bonn-OSINet and the annual ring tests should be sent to the Bonn Agreement Secretariat.
