MARINER

MARINER ran from 2016 - 2017 and builds on the ARCOPOL projects and focuses on improving planning, preparedness and response to HNS spills.

The MARINER project (2016-2017), co-funded by EU Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG ECHO), is building further on the work started in the ARCOPOL projects. MARINER focuses on improving planning, preparedness and response to HNS spills. The project partnership involves organisations from 4 countries, among which 2 Bonn Agreement Contracting Parties (i.e. United Kingdom and France, besides Portugal and Spain).The project’s main objectives and tasks are:

  1. Capitalising relevant HNS R&D outcomes by translating them into operational resources for planners and responders, through HNS knowledge compilation and facilitation, by upgrading and/or improving tools to support decision-making and response (such as HNS modelling tools and impact assessment guidelines), and by improving HNS response protocols;
  2. Providing tools that help to reinforce the training and exercising of responders.
